Summer Reading Program 2022

Welcome to the Blanco Library
Summer Reading Program 2022!

The Blanco Library’s Summer Reading Program (SRP) began on June 14 and ends on August 9. This year’s SRP theme is Oceanography, and the slogan is “Oceans of Possibilities.” Readers will earn prizes through their participation! The reading and logging portion of SRP will be hosted via ReaderZone (see instructions below).

This summer the library will also have in-person programming, and SRP participants are encouraged to attend, though you don’t have to be enrolled in SRP to attend events!

  • Story Time on Thursdays from 10:30 to 11:30 with library volunteer Carol Winscott!
    • Began June 2 and ends August 25. Each Story Time includes readings of books, plus light physical activities and crafts.
  • SRP Movie Day on Fridays at 3:00!
    • Begins June 17 and ends August 5 and is free and open to the public! The Library will show ocean-themed, family friendly movies. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. Our second movie will be "The Little Mermaid" on June 24. Further movie schedule to be announced.
  • SRP Crafturdays on Saturdays from 10:30 to 11:30!
    • Begins June 18 and ends August 6. Saturday mornings the Library will offer a crafting activity hour for participants to make and take home a craft project.

In addition to prizes awarded by the Blanco Library, all Blanco Elementary Students that COMPLETE the Summer Reading Program will be mentioned on the announcements, receive a treasure tower coin, and get to pick a free book from the library!

ReaderZone registration instructions:

Summer Reading Program participants will log their reading progress online via Reader Zone. Download the Reader Zone app (see instructions from Reader Zone), create an account, enter our unique program code (c4dbf), and start logging your reading in a matter of minutes! (Note: Reader Zone can also be used without an app via traditional web browsers. Visit to create an account and log in using a browser without downloading the app). Readers are separated by age group (Pre-K, Child, Teen, and Adult), so be sure to join the appropriate group once you enter our unique program code. Parents of children under 13 must create an account for themselves and then add a reader for each child in the family, but all participants in a family can be managed under the same account.

Be sure to log your activities throughout the eight weeks to be eligible for a prize from the Blanco Library! Have other questions about the Summer Reading Program? Email

We look forward to reading with you!
